Nerves

Welcome to my first blog. I am nervous about the experience. It is not the technology aspect that makes me nervous, I tend to be a quick learner. I am afraid I just will not have enough interesting ideas to keep my blog moving. How is everyone else feeling about starting this blog? Is it your first or are you an experienced blogger?

  1. I am very frustrated with this so far. One I really do not know what I am doing, because this is all so new to me. Two I really do not know when I really will use blogging in my classroom with junior high math. Three I hate spending time on something that I may not ever use.

  2. I do not know if this is the same at all school, but at our school last year we got a letter saying that we needed to stay away from Face Book, My Space, and any blogging with students. It even said that violations of this could result in being terminated. Is that the same at your school? Then this year the Superintendent said that we need to be more into technology, and know how these things work without having an account. That is the reason why I am taking these classes. I guess my real question to you is how much contact do you have with your students on the internet?

  3. I teach third grade so we haven't been directly spoken to about usage. However, facebook and a variety of other sites are blocked in my district. My district actually just had an inservice about using blogs though. Through our school website there is the option to add a blog.

I am not sure about how to use blogging in math either. Maybe other people will have ideas.

  4. I have made blogs before, but this is my first education-focused blog that is public. In a couple of my classes, my students and I blog in a nice secluded system in which students, teachers and professionals involved in Connecticut Career Choices - http://ctcconline.org/ - sponsored classes can interact. This has been very fun to work with in the classroom environment, and I am actually looking forward to taking things to the next level with my classes - i.e. getting them to publish content on blogs that are visible by everyone! Once we get approval and unblock at least one public blog site at my school, that is.
